It depends on you situation but over 75% of the users find that TurboTax Deluxe meets their needs.
O TurboTax Basic Federal + efile 2009
Basic tax prep + efile
O TurboTax Deluxe Federal + State 2009 + efile
Basic + efile + 1 state return + deductions
(*Recommend at a minimum since you will have state income tax to file as well. I use the deluxe for both job income and business income as well as investments.)
O TurboTax Premier Federal + State 2009 + efile
Basic + efile + 1 state return + deductions + investments + rental property
O TurboTax Home & Business Federal + State 2009 + efile
Basic + efile + 1 state rtn + deductions + investments + rental property + self-employment income
Note: I am not a tax expert but we have both employees and self-employed (simple business model) and have done fine with the deluxe version.
